Why take this course?
Help wounded children grow and thrive despite their challenges…
Parenting is never easy, but when you’re raising a child who’s experienced trauma, it can feel like you’re speaking a language neither of you understands.
You love your child deeply, but their behaviors—from angry outbursts to withdrawal, from defiance to destructive actions—leave you feeling helpless, confused and wondering, “What am I missing?”
These aren’t just typical growing pains. What looks like misbehavior is often a child’s attempt to communicate deep-seated needs they can’t express any other way.

Their actions aren’t about being ‘bad’ or ‘difficult.’ They are responses to trauma, stemming from past experiences or their current environment.
Trauma rewires the brain, leaving children struggling to process emotions, trust others, and feel safe in the world. This affects every aspect of their lives—and yours. What’s worse? Trauma can emotionally “freeze” children at the age when it happened.
This means that even as they grow physically, their emotional and social development may lag behind—making it much harder for both of you to manage age-appropriate situations and expectations.
As adults, we often unknowingly contribute to this cycle. Many of us carry our own unresolved traumas, parenting as we were parented.
We’re doing our best… but without the right tools, we may be using methods that don’t serve our children’s unique needs, so we continue to perpetuate patterns that keep our families stuck.
But here’s the good news: It’s never too late to change the story. Most parenting advice focuses on fixing your child’s behavior—making them less defiant, less angry, more compliant, or in a better mood. But that approach misses a crucial piece of the puzzle: YOU.
The healing journey isn’t about changing your child… It’s about how you can change yourself and the dynamics in your relationships with your child.
And as you heal and grow, you create space for your child to do the same.
With the right support and understanding, you can see beyond behaviors to the hurt child underneath. You’ll shift from asking, “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”
By becoming a steady, nurturing presence in your child’s life, you open the door to healing and connection. Parenting isn’t always easy, but you don’t have to walk it alone.
Don’t miss your chance to learn directly from Dr. Levy’s 50+ years of attachment research and clinical experience with children and families.

Here’s what’s in the training curriculum…
Class 1
Attachment Parenting: Basic Principles
This powerful session introduces Attachment Parenting principles—providing a framework to support children’s emotional, mental, social, and moral growth––with an emphasis on children who have experienced trauma.
We’ll cover core child development concepts, including how nurturing relationships and early attachment influences brain structure and genetic expression.
You’ll also learn how to create a “Healing Environment” that balances love and limits—and turns challenges into opportunities for growth and connection.
Key concepts covered:
- The interplay of nature and nurture in a child’s development
- Self-regulation as a foundation for lifelong emotional health and well-being
- Balancing risk factors and protective elements in a child’s environment
- Leading by example in communication, stress management, and emotional regulation

Class 2
Trauma, Attachment, and Brain Development
Trauma leaves a lasting imprint on the developing brain, shaping how we perceive and interact with the world. In this session, we’ll examine how the structure of a child’s brain forms to support emotional communication, attunement, and attachment relationships.
You’ll learn why early physiological development, combined with caregiver interactions, creates the internal working models that influence a child’s self-perception and view of others.
We’ll also trace the key traits of secure and compromised attachment from infancy through childhood and into adult relationships, exploring their long-term effects on self-worth, emotional regulation, and relationship patterns.
Key concepts covered:
- The interplay of nature and nurture in a child’s development
- How early experiences create the inner working model (or blueprints) that guide self-perception and relationships
- The role of caregiver interactions in developing emotional communication and attunement
- Attachment patterns across the lifespan, from infancy through adulthood

Class 3
Know Yourself, Know Your Child: Self-Awareness for Parents
This session explores how we can transform our approach by understanding their own trauma and attachment histories.
We’ll learn how to shift our mindsets, becoming more responsive and less reactive to our children’s needs. We examine how to recognize emotional triggers, understand our body’s responses to stress, and identify ingrained coping mechanisms and unhelpful patterns.
You’ll also discover the power of “Life Scripts,” the formative experiences that shape our parenting styles and can perpetuate intergenerational patterns. You’ll gain practical strategies for maintaining calm and constructive communication with children––even in your most challenging moments.
Key concepts covered:
- Using the Life Script to increase self-awareness and improve attunement and attachment
- Strategies for staying calm and responding constructively during challenging moments
- The 6 steps of Attachment Communication Training (ACT)

Class 4
Strategies for Secure Parenting
This final session focuses on actionable skills to help parents build healing relationships with their children.
Learn strategies that support the 4 R’s: responsible behavior through appropriate expectations, respectful interactions within the family, resourceful problem-solving skills, and reciprocal give-and-take in relationships. These principles help children develop essential life skills and positive behavioral patterns.
You’ll also learn additional techniques for providing comfort, stability, and acceptance while setting constructive limits.
Discover how to maintain a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes healing, while focusing on parenting strategies that build on the child’s strengths and abilities.
Key concepts covered:
- The 4 R’s of behavioral expectations for children
- Competency-based parenting techniques and practical skills for building resilience
- Strategies to boost self-esteem, motivation, and trust in children
- Methods for improving family relationships, reducing conflict and promoting secure attachment
